Sports & Recreation

Jr. Jazz basketball season is ready to begin the first week of January. We have two 5-6 grade teams coached by Steve Christiansen/Brian Madsen and Andy Osborne/Nate Rostrom. We also have one 3-4 grade team coached by Jay Johansen. They have been practicing through the month of December and I think they are all ready and excited to start the season. We also had a few other youth sign up that ended up playing on Mt. Pleasant teams and we thank Stephanie Blain for letting them move to those teams so they can still have a chance to play. Our 1-2 graders will be meeting at the Wasatch Academy gym each Monday night and spend some time learning basketball techniques and then have a 30 minute scrimmage. This is a great opportunity for them to learn some of the basics of the game but still have some fun playing on the court, getting a Jazz Jersey and having an opportunity attend a Jazz basketball game in Salt Lake in February.

Indoor soccer registrations have just finished up and their games will be starting about the end of January.

Pete Allred has been hired as the new Sports and Recreation Director. He has spent the month of December in training and will take over the full responsibilities beginning January 1st. His cell phone # is 435 851-4675. His email address is jaida2juke@gmail.com. We will be switching the management of our Sports and Recreation Facebook page to Pete at the first of the year so please continue to "Like" that page to stay up to date on all the sports happenings in town. Please contact Pete now if you have any questions about sports or recreation for the city. I'm excited to turn this over to him. He has a lot of experience working with our youth as well as a great knowledge and background in sports. He will do a great job in this new position.

Thank you to everyone for your help and support over the past three years. This has been a great learning experience for me but more importantly it has given me an opportunity to get acquainted with many of the families in our community. I have loved working with the youth and watching them improve in their skill level as they play the different sports. Good luck to them as they continue to compete and learn.

DUP

Our first meeting in 2018 will be January 8th at 11:00 Am.

What a great way to begin a new year. We would like to invite any one who loves people and history to join us. Our meetings last for an hour with a light refreshment at the end. We will look forward to seeing you 🙂

Success for Quarters for Christmas

Our Quarters for Christmas Event on Saturday, December 2nd was a magical event -- with help from KSL TV who came to Spring City with games and prizes, and brought Santa & Mrs. Claus on Chopper 5!

In addition to  the fun and excitement experienced by attendees, we raised $1343.26 to help our children in need receive shoes and coats. This was such a warm fuzzy feeling, that we have decided to do it again this year -- with a goal of doubling our 2017 amount!

So begin filling your mason jars.Empty your pocket change into it all year. We have invited KSL back to Spring City for this great cause on Saturday, December 1st! WE CAN DO THIS AGAIN -- BIGGER!!!

Annual Christmas Ornament Fundraiser

The Events fundraiser for Christmas ornaments sold from the Das Cafe tree went great!

Since we donated our Christmas party budget to Quarters for Christmas, this will help us fund events this year! Thanks to all who contributed their fun and skillful

ornaments! THANKS!!! EVERYONE -- feel free to start right now making more for next year's tree!

Valentine's Dance

Reserve Wednesday, February 14th for our traditional Valentine's Dance for the whole family! It will happen in the Ballroom from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and there will be lots of door prize drawings, good music & refreshments!
