Plein Air Competition
You might notice a number of landscape painters around the city and throughout the valley this week. They enjoy coming to Spring City each year, because they find so many paintable scenes and vistas. If you encounter a painter, feel free to stop and look over their shoulder for a few minutes. They generally enjoy visiting and sharing why they have selected a particular subject matter. However, understand that they are trying to complete several paintings over the course of a few days, so don't be too intrusive. They have been instructed to stay off the roads and private property. But do take care as you drive around so we can avoid any accidents. The artists will be painting August 29-September 1. If you are curious about what they are painting and want to see the finished works, you can come by the Spring City Gallery on Friday evening, September 1, for a reception. Most of the artists will be there, if you would like to meet them. On Saturday, September 2, the Gallery will have an exhibition of all the works, from 10 am to 4 pm. Come pick your favorites, and find which ones the judges selected. We are glad we live in a place that artists find so beautiful.
